As you can see, some, if not most, of my posts will be at odd hours of the night, especially while living approximately 11 hours ahead of those from home. But right now I'm finally "snug as a bug in a rug" in bed, as my mom would say those nights I just couldn't fall asleep. I'd give anything for her to squeeze me tight and wedge me between the covers just one more time. Ahh, the little things. :)
Today was a pretty huge day! My parents and boyfriend drove me to a Hampton Inn in Philadelphia (I was one of the lucky ones being relatively close to this location and not needing to fly down , then fly out again tomorrow to Kyrgyzstan! God bless those friends.
We started off with a delicious last breakfast in the states at 3C's (mmm). Then my boyfriend (I'll just call this fella Ryan because thats easier) and I embarked on a 2 hour car ride by napping as my parents drove. Ryan and i apparently conked out for 2 straight hours...whatever, it was sooo needed! When we arrived to the hotel, we unloaded with about an hour to spare. None of us really knew what to say unless we were willing to risk an unstoppable flow of tears and sobbing. It was unavoidable, no matter when it happened or who broke down first (it was my dad, in case you were wondering). :) They all finally left me alone, ad that's when MY anxieties really started to kick in! I was alone, surrounded by newly minted Peace Corps Volunteers about to embark on their first steps through training.
We had a full day of orientation, but it was the best, most interesting and productive orientations i have ever been a part of. Those 5 and a half hours really flew by, thanks to some fantastic Peace Corps staff members. In short, I was intrigued by the information the entire time, and was constantly begging for more! Activity after Activity after activity we finally headed to dinner. Tasted my first cheesesteak thanks to a fellow volunteer Dave (makes sense, right?! Being in Philadelphia and all...).
If all my blogs are written from my Kindle (my laptop is jammed into my cartyon...) they could potentially be as boring as this one. i am beyond exhausted and am sort of ready to spend the next 2 years of my life...starting...NOW. :)
Goodnight all!
